Planning permission was passed yesterday for the league champions to move to a new stadium to the East of the town.
Independent councillor Ann Skene believes the move will benefit the club and the community for years to come.
She said: ”Forres are perfectly happy where they are but if they were offered a much better sight with more luxurious surroundings and facilities they seriously consider it.”
The Can Cans have played at their current ground for the past 30 years since the move from their historic Mosset park home in 1987.
The club are yet to accept the plans, which would see their ground become part of a £25 million retail complex in the town. The development is a joint venture between Stewart Milne Group and Redco assets.
The new ground will boast features such as a new stand, club house and licensed bar as well as floodlighting and a carpark.
