The change is relevant to bodies such as humanists and Jedi, who are considered religious groups.
Reverend Somerset of the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland believes Jedi should not be able to join two people in matrimony.
He said: "I’m not happy with it.
"Marriage is instituted by God and people should not be free to play around with the law."
Jedi knights are characters from the Star Wars franchise, from which books, toys and films have been based upon.
Various groups promote interest in the religion including the Jedi Knight Society, which offers lessons from Master Yoda.
The bill is said to make clear the government's certainty to ensure the reputation of Scottish marriage ceremonies is kept.
The Scottish government is holding a public consultation on bill.
